Cordoba is an important center for grain production. At the national level it is the leading producer of soybeans and corn with 13.1 million and 8.2 million tons respectively, data that was taken from the 2006/2007 harvest.
The total surface area planted for that season was 6,800,000 hectares. According to the space occupied, the six principal crops are: soybeans, corn, wheat, sunflowers, peanuts and sorghum. Also, there are industrial and fruit and vegetable crops among which the production of potatoes, garlic, sweet potatoes and olives is prominent.
The primary production is allocated for industrialization in the interior of the province as well as export markets. In this sense, the Manufacturas de Origen Agropecuarios (MOA) are marketed in the internal and external markets.
