The city of Cordoba is situated in the heart of the Republic of Argentina. This is said keeping in mind that it is the center of the Bi-oceanic Corridor and that it also forms a part of the regional organization with countries from MERCOSUR.
As for its size, the area of Cordoba is 165,321 square kilometers and takes up approximately six percent of the national territory. It borders six other provinces: to the north with Catamarca and Santiago del Estero, to the east with Santa Fe, to the southeast with Buenos Aires, to the south with La Pampa, and to the west with San Luis and La Rioja.
The province has a population of almost 3,254,279 inhabitants. Of that, 43 percent are concentrated in the city capital, leaving the province with a population density of 18.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Within this vast territory, plains, sierras and valleys converge and form the basis for Cordoba’s identity.
The predominating geographical features of this inland region—almost two-thirds of the whole—form part of extensive Pampean plains enclosed between important mountainous areas to the west and the plains of the littoral to the east. The features described are related to the zone’s productivity: the climate, geological composition and relief, and economic and industrial structure explain the productive diversity that the province displays. Among other considerations, Cordoba along with Santa Fe and Entre Rios form the Central Region that is becoming a strategy of regionalization whose principal objective it to promote economic, social, human, educational, scientific, cultural, and health development of the zone.

Productive Structure
The province’s Gross Geographic Product (GGP) represents 8.1 percent of the national GDP.
In terms of the provincial product composition, the tertiary sector accounts for approximately 64%; in this sector, the most relevant activities are "retailers, restaurants and hotels", “communal, social and personal services” and “financial, insurance, real estate and business service establishments”. The secondary sector contributes 27% of the provincial product, with the "manufacturing industry" in the forefront. Last, the primary sector represents 9% of the GGP, exceeding the national average of 8%, almost exclusively composed of agricultural and cattle farming activities.

The manufacturing industry is chiefly represented by the automotive, food and drink, agricultural machinery, and auto parts sectors and by the new technology industry. As such, the sector is broken up into 37 industrial parks and zones created with the objective of achieving an urban zoning of the different localities in the interior [all areas outside the capital city] part of the province and to provide the industries optimal conditions for production.
What is more, Cordoba has a diversified farming and livestock level whose characteristics differentiate the entire Pampean region: the northeast is earmarked for livestock production, the central zone for agriculture-livestock, the center-east specializes in dairy livestock production and in the southeast agricultural production with high yield and productivity indices predominate.
It is worth pointing out that the province offers a wide range of production initiative possibilities, through its richness in natural resources as well as the infrastructure it has available that allows for the sustaining of and assistance for industrial enterprises of any scope.

Infrastructure
The provincial space is covered by a communication and infrastructure network that links distant geographic points of the interior to the rest of the country.
First of all, it must be noted that the Cordoba Ground Station is located in Cordoba for the regular reception of satellite information within the nation as well as the Mission Control Center, which provides ground support for national satellite missions.
Furthermore, operational and logistical services exist to optimize the operation of all international business. Among them include two customs offices with the maximum national levels of hierarchy and autonomy, fiscal repositories, a free-trade zone and a modern international airport. Regarding the airport, it is located nine kilometers from the center of the capital city and has the highest air traffic and passenger movement outside of the nation's capital.
The Free-Trade Zone is located very close to the airport and has an excellent infrastructure for the installation of industrial and commercial businesses.
Annually, the interior part of the province maintains a busy schedule of fairs and shows representative of the different sectors of production. Particularly, the city has a 15,440 square meter Fair and Exposition Complex available (open air and covered spaces) where the traditional Feria Internacional de Cordoba (FICO MERCOSUR) [International Fair of Cordoba] is held.
Everything we have described so far offers a favorable context which provides impetus for businesses, industrial production for export and business support services.

Energy
Energy available here is diverse; it is composed of heat, hydroelectric and nuclear generators. Currently, important investments are being made that will allow for, in the short term, the necessary power to be self-sufficient in the total energy requirements for the province.

Exports
Regarding foreign trade, the province enjoys a notable trajectory. Cordoba’s diversified production allows for its insertion in over 150 markets and can respond to international demand.
Provincial exports maintain a steady rate of growth and represent 12% of the country's external sales. The Manufacturas de Origen Agropecuario (MOA) [Farming Origin Products] account for half of all exports originating in Cordoba, followed by the Manufacturas de Origen Industrial (MOI) [Industrial Origin Products], which in the last several years have experienced a revival in international sales participation.
In terms of the destinations Cordoba reaches, Asia is the principal buyer of the province’s products. Europe follows and the countries that comprise MERCOSUR come in third. Of these large blocs, China and Brazil lead the list of countries that import from Cordoba. Furthermore, shipments to states such as Poland, Venezuela, Indonesia, Vietnam, Algeria, Russia, Turkey and France are gradually growing.
